Gartner awards top marks to T-Systems' dynamic SAP services
Singapore, February 24, 2009
"Dynamic Services for SAP Application" from T-Systems allow companies to make more flexible use of SAP than is possible with traditional SAP hosting services. This is the conclusion of a current survey by market research institute Gartner, in which the analysts focused exclusively on the performance of T-Systems’ solution services.
One of the key strengths of the T-Systems solution according to the Gartner study is the high level of standardization, which allows customers to push ahead with the automation of their IT resources. In addition, T-Systems offers a geographically extensive service, with six data centers in Europe, Asia, South America and the US geared towards dynamic services. As a result, T-Systems is also well positioned for expansion into North America and the Asian-Pacific region. The analysts identified the strategic focus of Deutsche Telekom's corporate customer arm on dynamic services as a further strength.
The market researchers recommend that large companies in particular take a closer look at infrastructure utility (IU) services. Gartner includes in this category IT infrastructure which is virtually shared by several customers who use and pay for it according to their requirements, thus reducing their fixed costs. These solutions still have a share of just five percent in the outsourcing market for data center services and annual revenue of USD five billion. However, Gartner believes IU has greater market potential, as the solutions are open, flexible, highly standardized, automated and secure. "Dynamic Services for SAP Application" from T-Systems also belong in the IU category. They would exploit the benefit of automated services, optimizing costs and improving the agility of the company. For example, the solution offers companies the possibility of adjusting their level of demand by up to -/+ 50 percent within the space of 24 hours.
T-Systems delivers Dynamic Services for SAP Applications from six mirrored data centers worldwide, in Frankfurt, Munich, Jacksonville (US), Sao Paulo (Brazil), Shanghai (China) and Singapore. Customers pay fixed monthly charges for the service per user or access. In addition to pure SAP use, customers can order network services, server, storage and other tools. According to the number of users, services ordered and service levels agreed, the monthly charge per user can reach EUR 63.
T-Systems is responsible for overall compliance with the agreed service levels. Customers manage and control all ordered services directly via a web portal and an SAP cockpit. Some 40 percent of T-Systems’ SAP customers currently use "Dynamic Services for SAP Application". The demand for these services compared to conventional SAP services increased significantly last year.
In its analysis, Gartner also highlights as beneficial to customers the very short agreement terms which are a minimum of 12 months. In addition, they points out that the implementation time for the solution in typical projects (6 weeks) is very fast. As the services are pre-defined, agreement negotiations can be completed in just a few weeks. New customers would be able to test the service as part of a pilot project before scaling up Dynamic Services at their companies. This would provide them with the additional benefit of being able to compare costs easily with their IT budgets and existing outsourcing agreements.
