One of the largest SAP projects for Deutsche Telekom’s corporate customer segment: Continental will in future purchase SAP services from T-Systems based on usage – no fixed term agreed – term solely dependent on quality.
Continental has commissioned T-Systems to merge and operate the entire SAP environment. In future, the automotive supplier from Hanover will pay only for the computer and storage capacity it actually uses. In addition, the agreement does not envisage any minimum acceptance or fixed term.
"We have agreed an outsourcing deal with T-Systems that will reduce costs and at the same time provide extreme flexibility," says Dr. Ralf Brunken, CIO of Continental Automotive Group. The two companies work together very closely to this end. "This business model is so adaptable that it will cope with the future strategic changes," adds Elisabeth Hoeflich, CIO of Continental Rubber Group.
"Throughout the world, companies are increasingly demanding flexible contracts, which provide and charge for a service depending on the course of business," says T-Systems boss Reinhard Clemens. "This project is taking us a step further down that road. For the first time, the duration of the project depends entirely on the quality of our services and the benefits for our customers."
With more than 55,000 users worldwide, around a million units in SAP Application Performance Standard and a required storage capacity of 250 terabytes, it is one of the largest SAP projects of T-Systems to date anywhere in the world. For 1/2 2/2 comparison: 250 terabytes are equivalent to about 63 billion written pages of A 4, and if they were laid together breadth-wise, they would stretch round the Equator 322 times.
